i love it when my clients refer me to their friends. in my eyes there is no bigger compliment. i love my job. i mean really…who wouldn’t love getting to spend a few hours watching new parents love on their sweet little baby? i leave every session so happy. not only because i had the opportunity to witness genuine love and happiness for a few hours…but also because they chose me to document it.

after meeting this lovely family at the hospital a few days earlier…i was really looking forward to having them out to my home for their full session. this is not a typical situation for me. i prefer to shoot in my clients home…but this was a special circumstance as they were moving to New York City less than 2 weeks after they delivered here in Boston. their home was pretty much packed up and ready to go. rather than maneuver around boxes; i was more than happy to offer up our freshly cleaned out spare room in my home.

i really loved so much about our session. i loved how much J and D understood and felt comfortable with my shooting style. it really can bring the end result to such a different level. i highly recommend to anyone who is booking a session with a photographer; familiarize yourself with their work. grab a cup of coffee and sit down with your significant other and read through your photographers blog together. (most photographers these days have one.) your going to go into your session or wedding day more confident and comfortable with the photographer you have chosen.

our afternoon was full of conversation. honest and genuine conversation. one of my favorite things to learn about my new parents is how they met. i love the smiles and glances that are exchanged when they share “their story.” no matter how simple the story…it stirs up a different feeling while holding the little person you created together.

i walked away from our session with new friends. (new friends who sadly have moved to New York.) not only are J and D some of the sweetest people on earth…they are such an incredible team as well. i loved watching them work together, taking care of their sweet girl. you can tell they are going to be amazing parents. so confident and comfortable…this little girl is so lucky.

i knew from the emails i exchanged with mom, that i was excited to meet this little family. i was even more excited to be able to meet them for the first time at the hospital…just 24 hours after they welcomed their little girl into the world. upon entering their room, i was welcomed by mom, dad, grandma and grandpa. mom was getting a little lesson on nursing and i was amazed at how relaxed she was…laughing and just going with the flow. while i visited we talked…getting to know a bit about each other. oh…and i took pictures of course!

13 days left in the year…and i can safely say things are winding down. all of my client galleries are finished and packages with holiday orders have been shipped. my goal now is to catch the blog up and share with you some of the beautiful images and stories i had the honor to capture this fall.
here are a few of a sweet little lady i met back in August. and just as you can see in these first few images…her mama was totally in love.

i am still in catch up mode. this little guy’s 6 month session was in July. (you can see his newborn session here.) at our session he couldn’t quite sit up on his own yet…and now at 10 months he is WALKING! talk about 0-60! hopefully mom and dad are keeping up! i am looking forward to seeing his cute little cheeks again in January when we have his 12 month session!

summer bbq

a summer evening bbq. this was one of those days that was still 100 degrees at 8:00 pm. i just love how kids that have never met before can become fast friends and have so much fun. it was a great evening visiting with old friends.

time to break my radio silence. it has been a busy few months around here. i am in the middle of a very busy time of year for my business and my husband’s family farm. we are halfway done with harvest…and i am looking forward to being able to spend some much needed quality family time together.
i have several summer posts to share…with the weather getting chilly, i figure i better share summer sessions before there is snow on the ground. i visited this little guy back in july on a SUPER hot summer day when he was just 3 weeks old. i could just eat his little cheeks. such a sweetie.

there are so many things i could say about this session. i love this little guy and his parents to pieces. his mama especially…she has been my bestest for nearly 23 years. its pretty amazing to see someone you have known for so long become a mother. she is so calm and confident…motherhood suits her perfectly.
